The places listed on the
Coffee shops page also serve food. This is a list of child-friendly places to dine that are not coffee shops.
Burrell Cafe and Restaurant
The spacious cafe on the ground floor of the Burrell Collection has floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, which give bright views of the surrounding park. The cafe is open throughout the day and serves soups, sandwiches, hot meals and coffee with cakes. A relaxed atmosphere, many high chairs and tables, and lots of room for prams and restless toddlers makes it popular with families on a day out to Pollok Park.

Cottier's
Cottier's Bar is the perfect place for new parents to go with their children and 'feel like adults' again. One of the few bars in the West End to welcome children, Cottier's has a beautiful, cosy interior and a wonderful, wide beer garden that hosts delicious barbeques in summer. The children's menu offers several choices, including a mini beef burger. Adults can fix their cravings for Mexican food here with sizzling fajita platters.

Doocot
The Doocot Cafe on the 5th floor of the Lighthouse Centre for Art and Architecture is an extremely bright, airy and stylish space in which to refuel with your child downtown. The salads, tarts, sandwiches and creative hot dishes on the adult menu are delicious, including some Asian fusion foods, and the children's menu offers unusually tasty versions of popular kids' meals. The Lighthouse itself offers lots of room to climb stairs and explore, and its 4th floor has the best baby-changing room in town.

Firebird
This fun and quirky bar and bistro near the Kelvingrove Museum welcomes children with a special menu filled with lots of choices from its Scottish and Mediterranean kitchen. It provides lots of space and high chairs, plus entertainment in the form of a colourful fish tank. Parents can soak up the cool atmosphere while their toddlers take their first tastes of spicy Moroccan food (or stay in known territory with a pizza).

Kelvingrove Cafe
The bright and roomy cafe on the ground floor of the Kelvingrove Museum offers some of the tastiest, healthiest children's food in Glasgow. Grilled salmon with boiled potatoes, peas and carrots is one example from the children's menu. The food for adults is also delicious, ranging from spicy vegetarian haggis to Caesar salad to an adult portion of grilled salmon. There are plenty of high chairs, and babychinos to order alongside your coffee. And, of course, the museum is just upstairs.

Loft
At first sight, you wouldn't imagine that this bar up two flights of steps on Ashton Lane is the perfect spot for a meal and a toddler. Take the lift, however, and you'll find that the wide open spaces, high chairs, and freely available Little Tykes ride-in cars are very family friendly. It's relaxed and uncrowded on weekdays. The Italian food is also good. On Sundays, the Loft hosts face painting and cartoons for older children. You can also hire rooms for parties.
See
Loft website for more details.

This popular High Street pizza and pasta chain offers children the same good food that it serves to adults, though in smaller portions of course. The staff are efficient and friendly, and bring complimentary crayons, colouring books and stickers to entertain wee ones. The children's menu includes a mini starter, mini side salad, ice cream sundaes and babycinos.

Princes Square
The courtyard on the lower level of Buchanan Street's Princes Square shopping arcade is an immediately appealing place to take a small child while downtown. Children love to run around freely in the circular amphitheater, which is surrounded by many child-friendly restaurants and cafes. The restaurants include Darcy's (with a diverse menu), Buzzy Wares (which serves burgers and other American fare), Il Pavone (an Italian eatery), and Fantoosh (which serves deli food). Many tables are located next to the amphitheater, so you can continue to dine and talk while your child plays safely within view. Children also love the great lifts in Princes Square, with their spectacular clear glass walls.

Stazione
This lovely Mediterranean restaurant is worth a trip to the western edge of Glasgow's West End. The staff are extremely friendly, the Italian, Mediterranean and Scottish food is unique and delicious, and the venue is excellent for family celebrations or quiet meals. Children of all ages are welcome. Though there is no particular child's menu, you could do what we do and order a generous portion of homemade bread and a side order of vegetables, and serve your child more food from your own plate.

TGI Friday's
This popular restaurant chain serves up huge portions of potato skins, chicken wings, hamburgers, steaks, pasta, ice cream sundaes and other hearty American fare. It's also well-known for its creative cocktails, but more importantly for us, it has loads of high chairs, an extensive children's menu, crayons and balloons for kids, and a tolerant staff that's used to noise. Best of all, it's located right in the heart of Buchanan Street.

Tramway
Recently renovated, the Tramway Café-Bar provides a gorgeous setting for relaxing over food or drinks with small children. Its ground floor space is wide and open, allowing for lots of room between tables. Children love to play in a designated play area that's filled with toys for babies and toddlers. In the summer months, the large patio outside is filled with tables that look over a wide lawn, which leads into the delightful, artfully landscaped Hidden Gardens. The menu at the Tramway Café-Bar emphasizes wholesome, healthy, homemade dishes from a variety of cuisines.

Wagamama
This Japanese noodle bar in the centre of town is very child-friendly, offering a wide selection of its most popular dishes on its children's menu. The food is tasty and nutritious, and can be eaten with a spoon and fork or (for the adventurous toddler) chopsticks. Wagamama has chairs for babies and toddlers that strap to its long communal tables. Kids will get a kick out of watching the waiters zoom around, punching in orders on their hand-held electronic devices. The service is excellent, and very fast.
